Petals of Hope
The Crisis of Child Trafficking
Child trafficking is a heartbreaking crisis that affects millions of innocent children around the world. Each year, approximately 1.2 million children are trafficked, with the youngest victims being as young as two years old.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, more than 300,000 children are at risk of trafficking in the U.S. each year. Approximately 1 in 6 runaways reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were likely victims of child sex trafficking. In states like California, Texas, and Florida, the statistics are staggering, with California alone reporting more than 300 minors trafficked for sex every month.
In San Diego, the situation is dire, with estimates suggesting that 1,000 to 2,000 youth may be trafficked every year, and the San Diego County District Attorney's office reporting that around 70% of these victims are from local foster care systems. Alarmingly, 30% of trafficking victims are children.
The Grooming of Vulnerable Children
These vulnerable children are often groomed by predators through gaming sties and social media platforms, where traffickers exploit their innocence and need for connection.
They create false identities, build trust, and manipulate young minds into sharing personal information or meeting in person, leading to unimaginable exploitation.
Call to Action
These statistics are not just numbers; they represent lives shattered and futures stolen. As people of faith and compassion, we have a calling to respond.
